Westlake Village, CA, March 4, 2010– Compulink Business Systems, Inc., a leader in optometric electronic health records (EHR) and practice management software today announced strategic EHR agreements with the Indiana University School of Optometry and the Arizona College of Optometry at Midwestern University. These two institutions join the growing list of ten other Schools and Colleges of Optometry who have standardized their outpatient clinics on Compulink’s Advantage/EHR™.
“Over a year ago, we recognized that there was a need to help universities make the transition to EHR,” states Link Wilson, President and CEO of Compulink. “That’s why we launched our University Program, dedicating resources and technology to helping universities implement and train students on EHR. So far, it’s been productive partnership for both the company and our university clients, as we help educate a new generation of optometrists on the next generation of technology.”
The Indiana University School of Optometry http://www.opt.indiana.edu/ selected Compulink’s Eyecare Advantage™ practice management and Advantage/EHR to manage the School’s clinics with 300 clinician and student users in three locations. The system replaces their current practice management software and will automate their most common and time consuming administrative tasks, such as writing prescriptions, scheduling, ordering labs, viewing results, billing management, reporting of patient demographics and documenting clinical encounters. The Indiana University School of Optometry has a long history of excellence in optometric education and research having been founded in 1951. “The School has forged a partnership with the internationally recognized Indiana University Information Technology Services (UITS) http://uits.iu.edu/ and Compulink to be a leader in development and implementation of electronic health records in eye care,” said Sarita Soni, the Interim Dean of the IU School of Optometry.
The Arizona College of Optometry at Midwestern University also installed a customized version of Eyecare Advantage and Advantage/EHR for their newly-formed degree program including one clinic and 50 student users.
“Integrating a customizable EHR system into our curriculum was important to us as we developed this program and anticipate continued growth over the coming years,” commented Hector Santiago, OD, PhD, Dean of the Arizona College of Optometry at Midwestern University. “We are preparing the next generation of optometrists with not only the leading clinical information, but also technology that will help them provide exemplary patient care in both a cost- and time-efficient manner.”
